“My Voice and My Heart” — The First Dubbing Competition Held by the Department of Japanese

      In order to stimulate students’ learning interest , improve their comprehensive ability in Japanese learning and enhance their communication with old alumni, the first Dubbing Competition “My Voice and My Heart”, which was sponsored by the Department of Japanese , Lanzhou University and co-organized by the alumni of College of Foreign Languages, was held on May 26, 2018 in Room C201 of Tianshan Hall on Yuzhong campus. Seven groups of contestants from all grades of  Department of Japanese participated in the competition. Teachers of the department and alumni of 2008 were invited and served as judges and special guests relatively. There are one grand prize, one first prize, two second prizes and three third prizes in the competition.
      The competition was divided into two parts in which the contestants would dub for two TV clips, one was chosen by contestants themselves and the other was assigned by judges . In the first part, Zhou Jia and Liu Ying acted as the father and daughter of the anime CLANNAD AFTER STORY. Liu Ying’s sobbing tone was so emotional that it fully expressed her longing for father’s return. Zhou Jia’s excellent pronunciation and deep voice full of emotion , with which he showed a father’s guilt and self-accusation for his daughter, were spoken highly by both judges and audience. In the second part, Zhang Hongrui and Wu Zijing dubbed for the popular Japanese drama “99.9 Criminal Special Attorney”. The two were also praised for their vivid imitation of the tones and emotions of the characters in the play.
      After two rounds of competition, Zhou Jia and Liu Ying won the special prize; Zhang Hongrui and Wu Zijing won the first prize; Liu Kai and Wang Hao won the second prize,and Wang Weiui, Zhao Yifan and Yuan Xueting won the third prize.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the graduation of the alumni of 2008. They returned to their alma mater and gave great support for the competition. They availed the opportunity and fully expressed their recognition for the achievements made by our school and the wonderful performances of the younger schoolmates, and extended sincere greetings to the teachers. At the same time, they expressed their hope that the competition would continue to be held and wished the Department of Japanese of Lanzhou University a flourishing future.
